Rise of the Tomb Raider to następca Tomb Raidera z 2013 roku. Ponownie mamy do czynienia z dziełem studia Crystal Dynamics, będącym przygodową grą akcji w brutalnej survivalowej otoczce. Omawiany tytuł kontynuuje historię poprzedniczki i pozostaje wierny jej stylowi i mechanice rozgrywki. Tym razem fabuła zabiera nas Syberię (przez chwilę zwiedzimy także Syrię), oferując większe obszary do eksploracji i bardziej rozbudowaną mechanikę craftingu.

Rise of the Tomb Raider na platformę PC Windows kontynuuje historię opowiedzianą w poprzedniczce. Wydarzenia, jakie miały miejsce na wyspie Yamatai, odcisnęły piętno na bohaterce, czyniąc ją twardszą i bardziej bezwzględną, a zarazem niespokojną kobietą. Tym razem Lara postanawia ruszyć na Syberię tropem tajemniczego Proroka, a jej celem są ruiny miasta Kitież mającego jakoby ukrywać źródło nieśmiertelności. Historia jest związana z badaniami prowadzonymi przez ojca dziewczyny, jego samobójczą śmiercią i zakonem Trójcy - odwiecznych przeciwników Proroka i jego ludu.

Jeśli chodzi o mechanikę rozgrywki w Rise of the Tomb Raider na platformę PC Windows, twórcy pozostali wierni rozwiązaniom z poprzedniej odsłony. Nadal spore znaczenie odgrywa ciche przemykanie za plecami wrogów i posługiwanie się narzędziami w rodzaju łuku, ale nie brakuje także sekwencji, w których angażujemy się w regularną wymianę ognia. Co istotne, lokacje stały się mniej więcej trzy razy większe - dzięki temu więcej czasu spędzamy teraz na eksploracji, szukając rozmaitych ?znajdziek?, jak również zróżnicowanych materiałów rzemieślniczych. Twórcy rozbudowali bowiem mechanikę craftingu, dając możliwość wytwarzania rozmaitych przedmiotów (np. bandaży, koktajli Mołotowa, zatrutych strzał) oraz bardziej kompleksowego ulepszania ekwipunku.
