Kooperacyjna gra akcji FPP inspirowana dziełami H.P. Lovecrafta, opracowana przez twórców Zeno Clash czy Rock of Ages. W The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu bierzemy udział w ekspedycjach do dżungli opanowanej przez potwory i nadprzyrodzone moce.
Filar rozgrywki stanowią wyprawy do dżungli, przez którą przedzieramy się, stawiając czoła potworom grasującym w gęstwinie. Wrogów eliminujemy, robiąc użytek przede wszystkim z broni palnej oraz białej. Oprócz diabelskich stworzeń, musimy mierzyć się również z mocami nie z tego świata, które wystawiają na próbę nasze zmysły, powodując u nas halucynacje.
Wszystko to sprawia, że kluczem do sukcesu jest dobra komunikacja z pozostałymi poszukiwaczami i koordynowanie działań. Gra jest jednak warta świeczki, bo choć im dalej w las (i to dosłownie), tym groźniejsi stają się nasi adwersarze i tym bardziej przytłaczające staje się nasze szaleństwo, to jednak na końcu drogi czeka na nas brama do podziemnego świata, a za nią – obiecane nam bogactwa.
