Dreadlands jest strategią turową, stworzoną z myślą o multiplayerowej zabawie. Tytuł został opracowany przez niezależny zespół Blackfox Studios, a jego wydaniem zajęła się firma Fatshark, czyli autorzy popularnej serii Warhammer: Vermintide.
Dreadlands zabiera nas do postapokaliptycznego świata, którego mieszkańcy toczą nieustanną wojnę o zasoby Glonithium - cennego surowca znanego również jako Glow. W trakcie zabawy przejmujemy kontrolę nad gangami najemników; przemierzając pustkowia, owe grupy walczą z innymi oddziałami, a także stawiają czoła innym czyhającym na nich zagrożeniom.
W Dreadlands akcję ukazano w widoku izometrycznym. Podczas rozgrywki trafiamy do rozległego świata, który dzielimy z innymi graczami, wchodząc z nimi w rozmaite interakcje.
