Endless Legend to turowa strategia fantasy typu 4X. Wyprodukowało ją studio Amplitude, mające na koncie udane Endless Space.
Akcja toczy się w pełnej magii krainie Auriga. W odległej przeszłości nawiedził ją kataklizm, który zmiótł z powierzchni planety ówczesne cywilizacje. Wiele wskazuje na to, że ta apokalipsa może się powtórzyć, gdyż przez ostatnie lata każda kolejna zima była znacznie cięższa od poprzedniej.
Wcielamy się we władcę niewielkiego miasta i naszym zadaniem jest przeobrażenie skromnej społeczności w prawdziwe imperium. Wymaga to oczywiście stawiania nowych budynków, zakładania dodatkowych grodów, dbania o gospodarkę oraz prowadzenia badań nad rozwojem technologii. Wszystko to musimy odpowiednio zbalansować, tak aby z jednej strony zapewnić podwładnym wyżywienie i dach nad głową, a drugiej strony wciąż mieć środki na inwestycje i rozwój naszego państwa.
Prędzej czy później cała ta ekspansja doprowadza do konfliktu z innymi nacjami, których w grze jest osiem. Dodatkowo można z nimi zawiązywać sojusze czy wymieniać się technologiami. Autorzy opracowali turowy system potyczek toczonych na trójwymiarowych mapach pokrytych siatką heksagonalną. Bitwy rozgrywane są za pomocą prostego interfejsu, który kryje spore pokłady taktycznej głębi. Kluczową rolę odgrywają takie elementy jak wykorzystywanie terenu czy stosowanie formacji. Jednocześnie twórcy nie zapomnieli o graczach preferujących bardziej pokojowe metody rozwoju i sukces można osiągnąć również pacyfistycznymi metodami.
Rozgrywkę wzbogacają elementy RPG. Podczas zabawy regularnie wysyłamy bohaterów na przygody, podczas których mogą odkryć sekrety zaginionych cywilizacji i powrócić do domu z magicznymi artefaktami. Ponadto każdy sukces, zarówno odniesiony w trakcie wypraw, jak i bitew, nagradzany jest punktami doświadczenia, za które rozwijamy umiejętności herosów.
