The Medium jest polskim horrorem inspirowanym serią Silent Hill. Wcielamy się w kobietę, która potrafi widzieć duchy i stara się rozwikłać zagadkę morderstwa pewnego dziecka.
The Medium otwarcie nawiązuje do takich klasyków gatunku jak serie Silent Hill i Fatal Frame, co widać choćby po ustawieniu kamery – nie mamy tu do czynienia z typowym widokiem TPP, zamiast tego zastosowano predefiniowane kąty kamery („fixed camera angles”). Zabawa wciąż polega na eksplorowaniu lokacji, rozwiązywaniu zagadek oraz radzeniu sobie z różnego rodzaju niebezpieczeństwami (w szczególności z potworem znanym jako Paszcza („The Maw”)). W odnajdywaniu poszlak pomagają Marianne jej wyczulone zmysły – kobieta potrafi usłyszeć „echo emocji” powiązanych z danym przedmiotem, a nawet usłyszeć urywki rozmów, które niegdyś toczyły się w tym miejscu.
